Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost before you receive services. Under the law, health care providers are required to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
What This Means for You
- You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs such as medical tests, examinations, office visits, vaccines, and equipment reasonably expected to be furnished by this practice.
- Your health care provider must give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) business day before your scheduled service or item. You may also request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling.
- If your bill is $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
- Please be sure to save a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
